Jesus the Good Shepherd

by Robin on December 10, 2009

Jesus is my shepherd. He does lead me along. Occasionally I stray off like silly sheep do. But Jesus takes out his staff and guides me back to the right way. Sometimes I get a spanking with the rod. But yesterday he led me beside the still waters and restored my soul. My cup is still overflowing!

First of all yesterday I went to visit with one of my “Titus 2 Moms”. I felt like a little girl again, eating raisin toast and sitting by her fire. She had prepared a little devotional just for me! Then I got a house tour. Her whole house is decorated for Christmas in the most adorable ways. I admired the “Joy Room” and the little tree in her bedroom with tiny ornaments. Then we prayed together. My cup was truly running over as I left her house.

To whom much is given, much is required. Lord, help me learn to bless others like this.

I had asked many friends and two “Titus 2 Moms” to pray with me yesterday. I am praying about a vision God gave me about twenty years ago. God is leading me along in this area. Through the years I have learned a lesson. God’s work requires power and I am weak. I need the prayers of the saints in order to do God’s work.

My afternoon visit yesterday was with a friend I’ve never prayed with before, but I found out recently we were soul sisters. (One of God’s surprises!) What a blessing to go to her house, drink warm chai tea, meet her darling grandaughter. This wonderful lady listened and offered her impressions of what God might be doing. We also discovered some more common interests. This was a lovely experience.  Her house was so warm. Warm and loving.

God you are so good! Thank you for leading me to a new friend and mentor.

My final meeting was with my old friend and former pastor. He too listened to my story and offered really great advice.  Yesterday I was the recipient of the grace of God worked out through His church. The Good Shepherd ministered to me yesterday through the lives of three believers.

Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever!
